Tallywackers, Dallas' short-lived male Hooters, wants to open a new location

Even if you never went to Tallywackers, Dallas' now-defunct male version of Hooters, you likely know its story.

The restaurant, which we deemed the area's first "chestaurant," made international headlines for employing chiseled servers who wore tight hotpants and often went shirtless. During the 14 months it was in business, Tallywackers hosted stars like actress Maribeth Monroe, was featured on an episode of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? and inspired numerous hot dog jokes along the way.

Tallywackers closed in August 2016 in hopes of reopening in a new location. And while that has yet to come to fruition, owner Rodney Duke tells GuideLive he is still very much scouting out new places to resurrect the concept.

"I haven't found anything perfect yet and I want to be sure it happens the right way," says Duke. "It's all still in the works and being talked about all the time, but nothing is set in stone yet to move forward with."

The bad news: Tallywackers likely won't be returning to Dallas, at least not at first. Duke says he and investors are looking to "start fresh" in a new city.

"Now we'd come back to Dallas, that's my home," Duke assures.

Hey, they don't call us the Big D for nothing, right?
