New Texas Symphony Orchestra: Snapshots: Onward

Mar 24, 2019

The 2018-19 Snapshots season includes Sundays at the Symphony concerts. This month's concert includes Berlioz's Symphony Fantastique, Op. 14, and Debussy's Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun and Rhapsodie for Orchestra and Saxophone.

Based on Berlioz’s own obsession, Symphonie Fantastique tells the story of an artist who falls desperately in love with a woman who has all the charms of his ideal person. Later, convinced that his love is hopeless and unrequited, he poisons himself with opium, sending him into drug-induced hallucinations of suicide, murder, death by guillotine, and demonic orgies. The symphony describes his obsession and dreams, tantrums and moments of tenderness, ecstasy and despair.

Tickets are $15 for students with ID and free for ages 18 and younger.
