Bye Corner Bakery, hello Hudson House at Dallas’ Preston and Forest

Dallas’ newest Hudson House restaurant is expected to open April 22 at Preston Road and Forest Lane near the Preston Hollow neighborhood.

The restaurant replaces Corner Bakery, a Dallas-based sandwich and salad chain. Corner Bakery filed for bankruptcy in early 2023. In 2022, another Corner Bakery, in Dallas’ Preston Center, closed after nearly 25 years.

Hudson House is the fastest-growing restaurant from University Park-based company Vandelay Hospitality. The Preston-Forest restaurant will be the fourth Hudson House in the Dallas area, following those in University Park, Lakewood and Addison. Hudson House has also expanded to Irving-Las Colinas, Fort Worth, Houston’s River Oaks and Los Angeles.

It’s the 21st restaurant in the Vandelay fleet, according to a news release, and it’s one of several in this North Dallas neighborhood. The company also owns and operates Anchor Sushi Bar and D.L. Mack’s, both nearby at Preston-Royal.

Another collection of Hudson House sibling restaurants is in University Park. The newest, Jack & Harry’s, opened a few weeks ago in Snider Plaza near Southern Methodist University.

Hudson House calls itself a New England-style lunch and dinner spot. Menu items include big salads, a double-double cheeseburger, chicken Parm, a lobster roll and fish tacos. At happy hour — weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m. — specials include half-price martinis, $10 cheeseburgers and $3 East Coast oysters.

Hudson House near Preston Hollow will be at 11700 Preston Road, Dallas. It is expected to open April 22 and will serve food seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
