Dallas' Neptune rocks 'dope' Halloween hip-hop routine on SYTYCD

We've reached the best part of So You Think You Can Dance -- half way, which means half the contestants but double the greatness in terms of choreography and execution.

This is where the dancers truly begin to reach new heights, and Monday was no exception, as each remaining competitor teamed up with someone previously on the show, known as an "all-star."

Neptune, our Dallas dude, was paired with one of my personal favorites from season 10, Jasmine Harper, for a zany hip-hop routine the duo performed as husband and wife -- Frankenstein husband and wife to be more specific. The dance didn't thrill me; I had something of an issue with the music, but it did include some impressive if down right creepy moves, such as a synchronized back-bend walk and plenty of double-jointed craziness.

Judge and producer Nigel Lythgoe was so moved, he called Neptune "dope ... whatever that means." The Dallas street dancer had little to worry about after last week's breathtaking contemporary routine and skated freely into the next round and top eight.

Another cool addition to week six of competition: solos. While these used to be commonplace every episode (remember when the bottom contenders had to dance for their lives?), this is the first we got to see of each dancer's choreography skills to the tune of a song from the Empire soundtrack.

Neptune chose "Power of The Empire" and showed off his unique, hard-hitting style we had yet to see in full force on the SYTYCD stage. See that dance and the top 10 opening number below.
