Guide Geek: 'Star Wars' is delayed, but 'Wonder Woman' is coming

Star Wars may have happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, but apparently it's going to take a little bit longer for Disney and Lucasfilm to tell us what happens next. This week they announced that Star Wars: Episode VIII, which had previously been scheduled for next May, has been pushed back to December 15, 2017.

Rumors suggest that the director, Rian Johnson, is taking the extra few months to rework certain elements of the script. Other, slightly more cynical theories suggest that Disney simply really liked all that holiday blockbuster money they got with The Force Awakens and would like to take every step possible to repeat that success.

Either way, the movie starts filming in London next month. And if you're desperate for more Star Wars, don't worry. The first spin-off film, Rogue One, is supposedly still on track to be released this December.

I'm personally still unsold on Batman v. Superman. I hope it's great, don't get me wrong, but all of the trailers so far have turned me off. So it's kind of weird that the new trailer for Suicide Squad, a story all about DC Comics villains, had the opposite effect.

The trailer debuted on The CW this week during a half-hour special all about the future of DC universe movies, all of which will lead up to the first Justice League movie that's currently scheduled to hit theaters next year. For a movie all about deadly villains, including The Joker, Deadshot and Harley Quinn, the new footage has a surprisingly lighthearted and dare I say fun vibe to it. Hopefully the full movie holds up when it comes out in August.
