Id Software, based in Richardson, took the video game world by storm last month with the release of a new Doom. That game was a phenomenal tribute to the first-person shooter classic, After doing so well with that revival, many people started asking about one of Id Software's other classic series: Quake.

So it was a very pleasant surprise to see Bethesda's E3 press conference open up with a cinematic teaser trailer for Quake Champtions, a new, multiplayer-focused (maybe multiplayer-only?) game in the series.

And yes, you will be able to rocket jump.

Quake's legacy is significant. Its multiplayer mode was a smash hit, and a version of Quake III's multiplayer, Quake Live, is still played competitively today.

Review: Locally-made 'Doom' is a pitch-perfect revival of a classic

It's also the namesake of QuakeCon, the massive video game convention that takes over a Dallas hotel every year. This year's event will hit the Hilton Anatole August 4-7.

Speaking of: Id Software promises that they'll show more of Quake Champtions at this year's QuakeCon.

Also at QuakeCon you'll see the just-announced Prey, developed in Austin by Arkane Studios.
