'Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens' video game announced, might make you laugh

Star Wars: The Force Awakens had some funny moments, but most of the movie was serious and action-packed. So leave it to the folks at TT Games to make even the most mundane scenes funny -- with Lego.

The long-time developer of Lego games has covered what seems like every popular franchise under the sun, including Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Batman and most recently The Avengers. This isn't the first Lego Star Wars game, either. There have been three others, covering the six previous movies and the Clone Wars era. In fact, the original Lego Star Wars is the game that kicked off this entire trend.

Now they're tackling The Force Awakens. The game will be released on June 28 for all major dedicated video game systems, including the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

The announcement trailer remakes the original teaser for the movie. There is a whole lot of comedic Lego charm packed into about a minute and a half of video.

It is a bit odd for a Lego video game to cover only one movie. Lego Jurassic World, for example, also covered the previous Jurassic Park movies. The recent Lego Marvel's Avengers actually covered six Marvel movies, including both Avengers films and both Captain America films.

The announcement does say that the game will touch on "previously untold story content exploring new details about the movie," so hopefully there's more to discover than just the events of one movie, especially considering that TT Games is already teasing a season pass that they're willing to sell you that will offer even more content in the future. Maybe we'll get levels from the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story?
