TV tip: Evil is still going down when 'Midnight, Texas' returns for its second season

Everyone is in love in Midnight, Texas, in the season premiere. The assassin and the vampire, the angel and the demon, the seer and the waitress, the witch and the reformed white supremacist.

But this is Midnight. And Manfred, the seer, ended last season by absorbing the essence of six demons, so you know the idyll won't last long. And thank Goodness (or Badness, your choice), it doesn't.

Manfred is sleepwalking and feeling compelled to do bad things. Then there's that new hotel in town. It's filled with ghosts, but more importantly, it's filled by a new-age guru who might actually be a real healer.

There's a lot of darkness in the season premiere, with Manfred in the middle of most of it. But that's just how fans like Midnight, Texas, which returns for its second season with murder on its mind. And plenty more demons to fight, some of them way too familiar.

Midnight, Texas, premieres Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
