'Sharknado' might be spinning away for good, but Texans made it a little more fun

Tonight's 'The Last Sharknado: It's about Time' kind of befits the title: It's is about time that this campy franchise has called it quits.

Sharknado has left the building.

Tonight's The Last Sharknado: It's about Time kind of befits the title: It's is about time that this campy franchise has called it quits.

But a part of me is going to be sad to see it go. And it did have kind of a Texas twang to it.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban

News Roundups

Catch up on the day's news you need to know.

Or with:

Cuban didn't know it at the time, but he ended up being the second choice to play the POTUS in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! As it turns out, Donald Trump was the original choice, but Trump's team (attorney Michael D. Cohen, who'll we know more about later) couldn't finish the deal. Sharknado co-founder David Latt turned to Cuban, Trump's team threatened to sue, yada-yada-yada, Cuban is Sharknado's POTUS.

Cuban told me that we'll never know whether The Donald could've fulfilled the role like he did.

"Who knows. But [we] don't know if he could have done the action scenes," he wrote in the email. "Lots of running. No golf carts allowed :)"

As proof, Cuban provided a seven-second clip of him doing a body roll in front of the rolling cameras, "and that was 6 months after a hip replacement :)," Cuban wrote.

Cuban hammed it up as the POTUS, gunning down flying CGI sharks raining on the White House.

Lewisville actor Cody Linley

The young TV actor from Lewisville had already been Miley Cyrus' boyfriend for four seasons of the Disney Channel's Hannah Montana. And he was a final four contestant on ABC's Dancing With the Stars with Julianne Hough as his partner.

When Sharknado came calling with a role as Fin Shepard's dashing son in Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens, he had to do an online search.

"I hadn't even heard of Sharknado before then," he said. "I guess I'd been living under a rock."

He binge-watched the other three Sharknadoes and was ready. Too bad he got knocked off in a later Sharknado.

Cassie Scerbo

Well, Scerbo doesn't have exactly Texas roots, but she does love to hang out at the lake in Granbury and loves her some Chick-fil-A from there.

She appeared to be taken out in first sequel, but came back as Nova Clark in Sharknado 3.

"It was already so crazy and ridiculous," she said. "That's how it's become a cult classic. It's real cool to say that I was part of that. I got to be in the Jaws of our day."

Texas-born Gary Busey

Surprisingly to most of us, it took four Sharknadoes to finally get Busey signed on. Busey went against typecasting and was the lead scientist at some company that's supposed to control Sharknadoes. He looked good in a lab coat and flashed that toothy grin a few times.

West Texas

In Sharknado 4, a Texas town makes an appearance when a Sharknado swept into a West Texas oil field and turned into an "Oil-Nado!"

Yep, we're going to miss it.
