Not sure if hop-ons are welcome, but the Bluth family's stair car is rolling into Austin soon

In another example of Austin getting all the cool stuff, the iconic Bluth family stair car from Arrested Development will be stopping by the Texas State Capitol on Saturday.

Fans of Arrested Development will remember that the financial strapped Bluth family resorted to selling their private jet and using their company's airport stair car as their primary transportation. The stair car was itself a character as it knocked down banners, helped inmates attempt to escape prison, gave people access to upstairs windows and was subject to hop-ons (people trying to jump aboard).

Yeah, the stair car's appearance is a promotional opportunity. Arrested Development is on an eight-city tour to promote the show's upcoming fifth season on Netflix and has launched an online campaign to be named "Family of the Year."

The stair car is scheduled to be at the State Capitol from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, then make appearances at South Congress Avenue and Elizabeth Street from 1 to 4 p.m. and in a parking lot at 501 E. Brazos St. from 5 to 8 p.m.

Arrested Development is about the fictional, wealthy Bluth family, whose assets dwindle after criminal investigations into fraud, embezzlement and "light treason." The show, narrated by Ron Howard, aired on Fox from 2003 to 2006. Netflix picked up the show for a fourth season in 2013. The fifth season starts May 29.

Outside of their show, the Bluths live on in pop culture. The stair car had a cameo in Captain America: Civil War. Fan favorite character Tobias Fünke (David Cross) made an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War. In homage to Tobias, a series of "never-nude meet-ups" are scheduled to promote the show.

Already, the stair car has made stops in New York and Washington, D.C. After Austin, it will be in Los Angeles (May 17), Chicago (May 19) and Seattle (May 20).
