You don't have to hop across the pond to watch British TV, thanks to BritBox

Known for years as one of the top stars in British theater and cinema, Manville is now accessible to American viewers through the advent of Britbox on Amazon Prime

Mum is a television show, now in its second season in the UK. It stars the redoubtable British actress Lesley Manville as the matriarch around whom swirl some of the funniest (and strangest) characters in television history. With the miracle of modern technology, you don't have to go to London to watch it. You can see the first season in the comfort of your own home by watching BritBox, now accessible on Amazon Prime Video.

Manville recently garnered her first Oscar nomination for her performance in Phantom Thread, in which she plays the sister of the lead character played by Daniel Day-Lewis.

BritBox uses the catchy slogan, "Indulge your inner Brit," and you can, by watching dozens of shows via BritBox that you won't find anywhere else. Manville is not the only reason to latch onto BritBox. By watching Mum, BritBox recommended William and Mary as another show I ought to watch. I loved it. Its lead actors, Julie Graham and Martin Clunes, are terrific, and both excel on several other shows available on BritBox.

But make sure not to miss Mum. This year, Mum's the word.
