Erykah Badu returns as host, Kirk Franklin performs for 'Soul Train Awards' in November

Erykah Badu will again host the Soul Train Awards.

BET announced Monday that "the godmother of soul" will host the show for a third time. The Dallasite will also produce and write the show. BET Presents: 2017 Soul Train Awards will air on BET and BET HER on Nov. 26 at 7 p.m.

Arlington's Kirk Franklin is scheduled to perform. He's nominated for best gospel/inspirational award alongside two more North Texans: Lecrae, who reps Dallas and Houston, and Tamela Mann of Mansfield.

Announced performers include Toni Braxton, who will take home the Don Cornelius Legend Award. Trio SWV will take home the Lady of Soul Award.

Other performers announced Monday include Tamar Braxton, 112 and Tank. The show will be filmed Nov. 5 at Las Vegas' Orleans Arena.

Houston native Solange Knowles leads all nominees with seven nods. Her nominations include best R&B/soul female artist, the Ashford & Simpson songwriter's award and song of the year for "Cranes in the Sky." "Cranes" will compete against her sister Beyonce's "All Night" in the video-of-the-year category.
