Hallmark Channel's Christmas marathon begins (!) and other things on TV this coming week

I love Halloween. Apparently, some people do not.

So much so that one network in particular has decided to bypass it completely.

Hallmark Channel is starting its annual Christmas movie marathon on Friday, Oct. 27. The marathon, preceded by videos such as "2017 Countdown to Christmas Announcement"in which you will learn there are 21 original movies this year and that Lacey Chabert is a "Queen of Christmas," will go right up until 2018 clocks in.

The marathon is filled with titles such as Merry Matrimony and Fir Crazy. If you're already dreaming of a white Christmas, this is your happy place. 24-7. So ... much ... happy.

Home entertainment

There were so many good things released last week that Spider-Man: Homecoming didn't get a fair shake.

Introduced in Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland proves more than capable of slinging webs and the one-liners that need to come easily to anyone being Peter Parker and Spidey. That's heavy lifting, which is why such good actors have had the role.

Holland was up to the task. And so was the script in a movie where the heart matched the action in what some called (OK, me) the best Spider-Man movie ever.

But wait, there's more ...

This home entertainment release includes extras, so many extras. Don't miss laughing at the alternate public service announcements from Captain America; pop-up facts that link the Spider-Man comics to the movie; and the casting process, including Michael Keaton's turn as The Vulture.

Selected titles next week: An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power; The Emoji Movie; Paw Patrol: The Great Snow Rescue; Teen Titans Go! Holiday Collection; Teen Wolf: Complete Seasons 1-6; and War for the Planet of the Apes.
