WFAA was among the names when the 38th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards nominations were announced Tuesday, July 25.

WFAA's News 8 at 10 p.m. was a regional nominee for "Passing the Trash." Jason Trahan is the producer, Mark Muller photojournalist and Charlotte Huffman the investigative reporter on the piece about how some school systems let disgraced teachers resign and then move to other districts.

The ceremony will be Oct. 5 in New York City for awards in 49 categories. PBS led the field with 48 nominations while 60 Minutes alone had 30 of CBS's second-place 43.

Retired CBS anchor Charles Osgood was announced as the recipient of the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award.
