What to watch in June, including 'Power,' 'Queen of the South' and 'Preacher'

Summer officially starts in June, and so does a lot of background TV. You know, the kind that keeps you company as background noise and a time-waster while you're waiting on the next cookout invitation.

Those types of shows once filled the summer schedule and there are still a bit; witness ABC's gang of game shows settling in for the season, umbrella drinks and all.

Take a closer look, though, and find some stiffer fare. Locally shot Queen of the South will return June 8 with more of the queen's rise to power. Hard-hitting dramas Orange is the New BlackPower and  Orphan Black are returning.

So, too, will Preacher, which almost defies genre but provides just as many laughs as look-at-this moments.
