Ken Burns is coming to Dallas for preview screening of new 'Vietnam War' docuseries

Filmmaker Ken Burns will come to town for a preview screening of his latest documentary series, The Vietnam War, on Tuesday, April 25.

Burns and co-director Lynn Novick will discuss the series with KERA host Krys Boyd after the 7 p.m. showing at the Naomi Bruton Theater, 650 S. Griffin St., Dallas. Doors open at 6. The event is free, but "reservations are required," according to a release. Reserve a spot at KERA.org.

The series will premiere on KERA in the fall.

Burns' list of widely acclaimed projects include Baseball and The National Parks: America's Best Idea. Novick previously worked with Burns on Baseball: The Tenth InningThe War; and Prohibition.

The docuseries from Burns are sweeping, grand-scale and detailed pieces that are full of heart and reverence for the subjects. Vietnam promises to be much the same, as it features testimony from proponents and detractors, combatants and civilians.
