ICYMI: Maren Morris caps big week with shiny and bright performance on 'SNL'

Maren Morris has had quite a week, month and year.

She capped it off with a scintillating performance on Saturday Night Live this past weekend. She performed two songs, "My Church" and "80s Mercedes." Both songs are from what has become her breakthrough album, Hero.

She was dressed like the star she has become, shiny in silver and gold. That came complete with a gold microphone during her performance of "80s Mercedes." Check out those lyrics: "Just keeps getting sweeter with age/She's classic through any decade."

John Cena hosted the show and introduced her simply: "Ladies and gentlemen, Maren Morris." The singer-songwriter, whose white guitar during "My Church" almost seemed as big as her music is getting, did the rest.

Earlier in the week, the Arlington native jumped genre and was nominated for a Grammy for best new artist.

That's along with three other nods: best country album, best country solo performance and best country song.

Morris received the Breakthrough Star Award during the annual Billboard Women in Music, which will air Monday, Dec. 12 (8 p.m. Lifetime).

She already has the trophy for CMA New Artist of the Year on her mantel. And she played South by Southwest and opened for Keith Urban on his arena tour. (What's next? Disney World?)

One would think a vacation was in order after such a whirlwind year, but Morris is prepping her first headlining tour, "The Hero Tour 2017." It will start in New York City at the Bowery Ballroom in February.

You might have to go to London to see her live; there are still tickets left for her shows at the O2 Arena. Stateside, the first Nashville date sold out in three minutes and tickets for the Dallas House of Blues are gone, gone, gone.
