HBO announces that Larry David's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' will return for ninth season

HBO announced on Tuesday that Curb Your Enthusiasm will return for a ninth season.

Larry David stars as an irascible version of himself in the Emmy- and Golden Globe award-winning series that hasn't had a new episode since 2011.

There are no details yet. President of HBO Programming Casey Bloys said in a press release that they are "thrilled" and "can't wait to see what he has planned."

With the show's improv style, David probably can't wait to see what's planned, either. One can only hope he'll reprise his Saturday Night Live skits about his doppelganger, Bernie Sanders.

David said in the same release that he decided to come back because, "In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, 'I left, I did nothing, I returned'."

David was a co-creator of Seinfeld, which is regarded by some as one of television's great comedy series. Curb Your Enthusiasm is HBO's longest-running scripted series.

David could have answered that he was on a roll, so why stop now?
