ABC pulls plug on 'Castle,' 'Nashville' and more

Oh, man.

ABC won the Gasp Award when Deadline reported that Nashville, the Empire of ABC, would not be coming back for another season. ABC sharpened its tools and lay waste to its schedule.

The network got rid of other fan favorites, too: Marvel's Agent Carter (sigh) and Castle (OK), too.

The writing was probably on the wall for Castle when co-star Stana Katic announced that she was leaving earlier in the season, but fans hoped that Nathan Fillion could carry on to a ninth season. Agent Carter still could have played a pivotal part in helping set up events in the present-day Marvel Universe. Here's hoping she gets some flashback action on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

ABC also announced the cancellation one-and-done The Family, which had become a little hard to watch.

Also, CBS ceded 'Supergirl' to where it should have been all along: the CW.
