Dallas-set ABC pilot gets its star and a name: Anna Paquin is 'Broken'

Variety reports that Anna Paquin (True Blood) will star in the formerly untitled Meaghan Oppenheimer project.

The show also now has a name, Broken. (I'm so happy; that was a lot of typing)

The show, with Reese Witherspoon as one of the executive producers, will be set in Dallas. Paquin will play Gemma, a "ruthless Dallas divorce attorney" who has problems of her own.

The cast list is getting filled out with some welcome-back-to-TV names, including Blair Underwood (anything he wants) as her boss with benefits; T.R. Knight (Grey's Anatomy) as a work competitor; and Penelope Ann Miller (American Crime) as a soon-to-be-ex-wife.

In other casting news for Broken, Deadline reports that Thad Luckinbill (come on, you know you recognize the name from The Young and the Restless) will play Gemma's "trophy fiance"and Charity Walkefield (The Player) will play Gemma's younger problem sister Jules.
