6 key character deaths teased in ominous new 'Game of Thrones' trailer

The sixth season of Game of Thrones may seem as far away as the Shadow Lands, but in addition to recently released set photos, we now have another ominous look at what may lie in store during its April 24 premiere.

Set in the Hall of Faces, a new trailer reveals death masks and voice-overs of long deceased characters like Ned Stark, Catelyn Stark, Joffrey Barathoen and Jon Snow, still of is-he-is-he-not status. Commentary toward the Lord Commander's fate? Perhaps. But, not so fast: Several other currently living characters join him in the Hall of Faces.

With new episodes outpacing George R.R. Martin's novels, and without his writing a single episode this season, what can we expect for Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Arya Stark and three others? Another Red Wedding style bloodbath?

It doesn't look good. But, then again, does it ever?

Another important observation: Why do death masks feature facial hair, but not head hair, making it significantly more difficult to determine which female characters may be in peril? Book readers jump in, if you've got insight.
