NBC5 names new vice president of news

KXAS-TV (NBC5) announced Monday that Mark Ginther, a TV news veteran with Dallas-area experience, will be the station's new vice president of news starting Sept. 14.

Ginther most recently worked as executive news director for KING-TV, an NBC affiliate in Seattle, and at a regional cable news outlet in Seattle. He was assistant news director at WFAA-TV (Channel 8) from 2006 to 2008.

He succeeds Susan Tully, who now will lead an NBC station in Connecticut.

"Mark is a seasoned news professional who knows how to relate important news and information in a way that is meaningful to local audiences," Tom Ehlmann, NBC5 president and general manager, said in a news release.

Under Ginther's leadership, KING-TV has won numerous awards, including a national Murrow award, two George Foster Peabody Awards, a Columbia DuPont award and a national Emmy award.
