Sharknado 4 might take place in space. The ending of Sharknado 3 was space themed. And Syfy program strategist Chris Regina hinted as much in a news release Thursday.

In a recent Q&A, Cassie Scerbo, who played the swashbuckling Nova Clarke, also hinted at sharks in space: "I can say that NASA is involved, and you can imagine where that's headed. Maybe headed to space."

Director Anthony C. Ferrante told Variety that he wanted to go international with the next installment. "There are still U.S. cities that I want to destroy," he told Variety. So far, Syfy has generated nearly 40,000 tweets on April's fate since the conclusion of Wednesday's show.

Other social-media performance highlights for Sharknado 3:

• Trended throughout July 22 on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Mark Cuban, the Dallas Mavericks owner who played the U.S. president, is eager to contribute to Sharknado 4, saying "I would love to," this week. In the show, after he'd mixed it up with sharks bombarding the White House, he was on the sideline for the second half, at one point tweeting:
