Dallas street dancer Neptune survives SYTYCD elimination thanks to Twitter

Eddie "Neptune" Eskridge, a street dancer from Dallas, survived the first elimination round on reality TV show So You Think You Can Dance Monday thanks to some love from the Twitter-sphere.

The show, now in its 10th year and 12th season, has switched up the game, pitting street dancers and stage dancers head-to-head in the competition. Each week, one dancer from each side of the aisle takes their final bow.

Neptune received one of the lowest scores from his performance during the season premiere last week, and was in danger of being eliminated. But So You Think You Can Dance now gives Twitter users a chance to save their favorite street and stage dancer by using specific hashtags during a five-minute window near the end of the show. And Monday that was Neptune (alongside stage counterpart Moises).

The 25-year-old freestyle dancer stepped way out of his comfort zone during Monday night's performance with a Broadway number to a sultry re-make of Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass." But make no mistake, he looked like a natural, which is likely why Twitter decided to keep in him in the competition.
