A Twitter Vending Machine with Twinkies and a $250 gift card is coming to Deep Ellum

Lots of good things come out of vending machines. Hot Fries, Honey Buns, Dr. Pepper - ah, childhood. You rub your dollar bill against the edge, get it nice and smooth, and then ZZzzt. The sound of automated rejection. If only there were another way. If only a few Tweets could unlock the mysteries of the item on Row 4 Slot D.

From March 6 through 12, they can. Fox is dropping off its promotional Last Man on Earth Twitter Vending Machine at Deep Ellum Trading Company.

The station's new show starring Will Forte and Kristen Schaal debuted last Sunday about a man in the year 2020 who realizes he's ... well, the title says it all. Mass destruction and no small amount of hoarding follow. The Twitter Vending Machine ties in by offering a lot of funny show-related junk (or treasures) like Twinkies, Slim Jims, raisins, flashlights, sweat bands, first aid kits and tennis balls.

A few lucky folks also walk away with a $250 American Airlines gift card.

The machine is open noon to 8 p.m. every day. To activate it, you've got to follow @LastManFOX on Twitter. Then, take a picture with a cardboard cutout of Will Forte. Tweet it, using #LastStuffOnEarth. You receive a direct message with a code to use at the vending machine.

What's the worst that could happen? Twinkie gets stuck, arm gets stuck trying to retrieve it? Snap a pic and Tweet that, too.
