The worlds of pop and R&B are filled with familiar voices that might make you ask yourself “where do I know her from?” Chart-topping stars like Bebe Rexha, Rita Ora and Charlie XCX have some great tunes to their names at this point, but found their first flirtations with fame after being featured on popular rap hits. Chicago-born neo-soul singer Jamila Woods fits a similar bill. The 29-year old’s rise to musical prominence began when she was featured on a couple of Chance the Rapper tracks, “Sunday Candy,” and the 2016 hit “Blessings.” Since then, however, Woods has made her own name via her soulfully stunning pair of records, including the brand new, critically-praised Legacy! Legacy!. --Kelly Dearmore
