If you love the idea of Austin's South By Southwest festival but aren't keen on crowds, consider the lesser-known Thin Line Fest in Denton, April 18-22.
Now in its 11th year, the festival began as a multi-day film-focused event and grew to include concerts and photography exhibits. It's notably smaller than SXSW, but like the capital's signature multimedia festival, Thin Line is a citywide affair, taking over several venues near the downtown square for its different components. And like the unofficial parties that have sprung up around SXSW, the whole festival is free to attendees — no RSVP required.
Concerts will be held at venues Dan's Silverleaf, Andy's, J&J's Pizza and Harvest House. -- Tiney Ricciardi/GuideLive
