While polarizing artists such as Kanye West are being described as too hot to handle these days, it’s wild to wonder what the climate would have been like if thrash metal giants Slayer burned onto the scene now instead of in the 1980s. Thanks to song lyrics and album cover artwork that delved into lightning rod topics including Satanism, Nazism and human sacrifice, the California-based group found itself simmering in boycotts and lawsuits long before tweets and texts sent such tidbits flying at the speed of light. But soon, more than 30 years of button-pushing history will come to an end: The group will say goodbye to all the dangerous drama after this tour.
