Thirty teams of barbecue specialists will take over Kidd Springs Park for a two-day festival featuring live music, concessions and, of course, the main event – a barbecue contest. Hosted by local nonprofit Go Oak Cliff, the event benefits KNON Community Radio and James S. Hogg Elementary.

To kick off the festival on Friday, participating teams will light their fires at 5 p.m. While attendees are invited to watch the grill masters at work, the tasting doesn’t begin until Saturday. Entrance to the event is free, but guests can purchase a $25 wristband to sample barbecue from each of the contestants and cast their vote in the competition. Tasting and voting is from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by the announcement of winners at 5 p.m.
