New Works Festival: Br'er Cotton

Kitchen Dog Theater presents the 19th annual New Works Festival featuring the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of Br’er Cotton by Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm. Set in the former site of a thriving cotton mill which is now an impoverished neighborhood, the play tackles complicated issues of racism and racial identity through the lens of 3 generations’ wildly differing attitudes and responses. Contains adult language and adult content.

The New Works Festival also presents 6 staged readings and PUP Fest featuring area high school playwrights. Go here for a schedule of performances.
