An Evening with Natalia Toledo Paz at

This event has already happened

WordSpace hosts the distinguished Mexican poet Natalia Toledo Paz for an evening of poetry, music, and conversation.

Toledo Paz lives in Juchitán, Oaxaca, Mexico, and publishes in both Spanish and Zapotec, the native language indigenous to the area. The poet has won many fellowships and awards including the Nezahualcóyotl Award, the only national award in Mexico to honor work in indigenous languages. The event ay the LCC will be a tri-lingual evening, with both live Spanish translations and English translations provided via projected titles. Toledo Paz will also perform music from the Oaxaca region.

The evening will be hosted by Dallas artist Sara Cardona, who says this about the poet: “Natalia Toledo Paz’s imagery is at once modern, sensual, and deeply rooted in the sonorous sounds of her native Zapotec language, one of the oldest on the continent. Her poems are an intersection of feminism, ecology and humor.”
