How many traditions in Dallas have lasted more than 50 years? We're guessing it's the dogs in costumes that keep locals coming back year after year for this favorite hometown festival. (But, then again, it could be the candy or cute kiddos.)

Bring a picnic basket and blanket for an afternoon of Easter festivities in Oak Lawn Park. Kids 10 and younger can enjoy an egg hunt, as well as DJ music and photos with the Easter Bunny. Multiple food trucks will be selling tasty treats, including Bellatrino, Easy Slider, Ruthie's Rolling Cafe, Snowie Naturals and So Cal Tacos.

Dress your pups in their Sunday best and strut down Turtle Creek Boulevard for the annual Pooch Parade, where prizes for best costume will be awarded in several categories. Registration starts at 1 p.m. and the parade starts at 2 p.m. Registration is $10 per costume entry in advance, $15 at the event. Each (dog) entry must be accompanied by at least one (human) adult. Visit website to register your dog.
