8-year-old from Dallas shows being brainy is cool in adorable J-Lo parody

When I hear female pop singers like Ke$sha and Katy Perry singing about getting wasted and being promiscuous, it makes me cringe. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for freedom of expression and having a good time. But I was a nanny more than a decade and watching little girls idolize these pop stars is borderline heartbreaking. Have you ever heard a 7-year-old singing about taking too many shots or dancing on tabletops?

Thankfully there's a young North Texan who's willing to say that being a studious kid is cool. Victoria Garcia Roberts, 8, and her parents recently parodied J-Lo's hit "Booty," a sexually-charged song about shaking the derriere on everyone in the room. The Roberts changed the song to "Brainy" and traveled to local places like the Perot Museum of Nature and Science showing how awesome it is to learn.

Parents Elizabeth Garcia and Chris Roberts were inspired to make the video after seeing a risque J-Lo performance, which they believed sent the wrong message to kids. Mom re-wrote the song lyrics to the song and dad did the filming. It's obvious after a quick chat with Victoria, who attends Elliott Elementary in Irving, they've instilled the right message within their daughter.

"Study hard so that you can do what you love later on in life," Victoria said by phone Thursday.
