All right already: Yet another study names Plano one of the greatest cities in America

In a list of the 20 happiest cities in the United States, Plano was the only Texas city to make the list.

You know that friend who is good at everything? That friend is called Plano.

In a recent WalletHub report on 2017's Happiest Places to Live, Plano made the list, at No. 19. Plano is the only city in Texas in WalletHub's top 20.

We're almost getting tired of all these accolades, Plano. In The Dallas Morning News' annual list of best neighborhoods, West Plano landed the coveted No. 1 spot. East Plano landed at No. 3. Money magazine called it the third-best city in the whole United States in 2016.

WalletHub's survey measured 30 "indicators of happiness" such as depression rates, numbers of suicides and how often people volunteer. The very happiest places to live in the country are mostly in California, WalletHub finds: 13 of the top 20 are in Cali, including the list's first four cities.

Plano's inclusion on the list isn't much of a surprise.

In 2015, I wrote a story called How Plano got cool. I was born and raised there and remember a wholesome upbringing in a fast-growing suburb with excellent schools. But in the past few years, Plano has become that and more: It now has exciting restaurants and a cool bar scene. You can now buy liquor in Plano. Even one of the Real Housewives of Dallas lives in, you guessed it, Plano. Adults and their kids can entertain themselves so well up there, there's little reason for Planoites to venture down to Dallas.

Of course, Plano's $3 billion Legacy West development is its biggest story right now. Companies such as Toyota Motor Corp., FedEx Office, JPMorgan Chase and more are opening offices in Plano, bringing jobs, people and the need for even more restaurants and shopping centers.

Expect a new brewery inside a new food hall as some of the exciting spots to come.
