French restaurant Cacharel closed unexpectedly after 30 years of fine dining in Arlington

Arlington has never quite gotten the recognition it deserves for dining; at least that's what an elite Yelper told us earlier this year, when he called the suburb North Texas' most underrated foodie city. Sadly, the same might be said for Cacharel, a French restaurant and ballroom that called Arlington home for more than three decades. It closed, quietly, this week, the Star-Telegram first reported.

Fans -- many of whom had hosted their wedding receptions there -- left memories, thanks and well-wishes in the comments on the restaurant's Facebook announcement.

Owner Hans Bergmann told the Star-Telegram the restaurant closed Sunday to provide time to finish moving before the lease expires on Dec. 31. He also said there are no plans to reopen at this time.
