UPDATED 9:19 a.m. on May 16, 2016: We first published this fun food pyramid in March, but we're bringing it back to honor the time-honored staple of barbecue on National BBQ Day. 

Deciding between your favorite Texas foods is tough, and we believe every Texan should have a well-balanced diet.

There are Lone Star State staples, like smoked brisket or enchiladas. There are special-occasion treats like Parker County peach cobbler or a Dallas steakhouse rib-eye. Then there are the once-in-a-blue-moon, gorge-yourself treats like deep-fried concoctions of the State Fair of Texas.

Where's a Texas foodie to start?

This may not be the most health-conscious way to plan your meals -- even the USDA moved away from the pyramid model back in 2011 -- but it might just be the most satisfying. Dig in.
