Kinky Friedman releasing new album with a little help (and weed) from Willie Nelson

Talk about a duo of Texas proportions.

Kinky Friedman is on the cusp of releasing an album called The Loneliest Man I Ever Met, his first in 40 years, and he enlisted Willie Nelson for a cover the Red Headed Stranger's "Bloody Mary Morning" to be included on the record.

Willie may have been Kinky's right hand man, but the duo still passed to the left -- Friedman told Rolling Stone, which premiered the track exclusively, he got so high he "needed a step ladder to scratch my ass."

"You hang on for dear life when you're working with Willie," Friedman said. "I don't smoke pot, but I will with Willie just as a matter of Texas etiquette."

Of the album, Rolling Stone said Friedman "continues the trend of doing whatever the hell he wants," including covers of Bob Dylan's "Girl from the North Country" and Tom Waits' "Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis."

The album comes out October 2, after which Friedman will be playing a show in Fort Worth at the Texas Council of Social Studies on October 29. Take a listen to his duet with Nelson below.
