'Fancy Nancy: The Musical'

Expect boas, bows and tiaras during this Dallas Children's Theater production. But there'll also be lessons about friendship and dealing with disappointment. The show, aimed at kids 5 and older, is about what happens when Fancy Nancy doesn't get the lead in a ballet recital — and is cast as a tree. A free party will be held an hour before the opening-night performance.

American Girl Dallas

Take your own doll or borrow one for a weekday tea party at American Girl Dallas. The dolls sit in pink seats that attach to the table and have their own teacups, and kids get to do a craft project. Goodies include sandwiches, cookies, fruit and more. It's casual, but extra accessories, a must in Fancy Nancy's opinion, are up to you. (There's also a Doll Hair Salon in the store where dolls can get a new 'do; check the website for more info.)
