State Fair of Texas announces impressive concert lineup, starting with Texas' country music darling

The State Fair of Texas is still more than 100 days away, but we're already getting excited for opening weekend. Texas' biggest fair just announced that Grammy Award winner Maren Morris, the country music darling and New Female Vocalist of the Year at the ACM Awards, will perform at the State Fair of Texas on opening night.

All State Fair concerts are free once attendees get inside the Fair Park gates.

That's right: This is a free Maren Morris concert, with Big Tex as one of the attendees.

It's also a hometown show for Morris, who is from Arlington. She's one of the most impressive D-FW exports in country music in years.

Other artists who will be performing for free at the great State Fair of Texas include rapper Flo Rida, Tejano group La Mafia, female group Wilson Phillips and the Charlie Daniels Band.

The State Fair of Texas concert calendar is one of the better announcements we've seen in years.

The fair runs Sept. 29 through Oct. 22 at Fair Park in Dallas. These concerts take place at the Chevrolet Main Stage, an outdoor concert area inside the fairgrounds.

  • Sept. 30 at 8:30 p.m.: Flo Rida with Macy Kate
  • Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m.: La Mafia
  • Oct. 5 at 8:45 p.m.: Israel Houghton and New Breed
  • Oct. 6 at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.: The Peterson Brothers
  • Oct. 7 at 2 p.m.: Ro James
  • Oct. 8 at 2 and 4 p.m.: Spazmatics
  • Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m.: Wilson Phillips
  • Oct. 9: Stars of Radio Disney and Radio Disney Country
