Watch: Crews hoist Big Tex into his State Fair home

How can you tell when the State Fair of Texas is getting close? Look for the 55-foot cowboy.

Crews erected the iconic Big Tex into place at the center of Fair Park in Dallas Friday morning, where he'll welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors to the State Fair beginning Sept. 30. The revered mascot wears a new outfit this year -- in addition to his signature Dickies western wear, Big Tex sports a blue ribbon and badge on his shirt to honor the local officers that lost their lives during the July 7 ambush.
