The Wings are adding a versatile guard to their ranks.

After spending the last five seasons at Ohio State, Sheldon will look to find a role as a backcourt running mate for Arike Ogunbowale. Sheldon finished her collegiate career as one of Ohio State’s all-time top scorers, posting 2,024 career points as a Buckeye.

Dallas entered the draft looking to shore up its 3-point shooting. Sheldon was also a 35% 3-point shooter throughout her time at Ohio State.

When asked about her possible fit alongside Ogunbowale, Sheldon seemed confident in the duo’s ability to mesh. Sheldon was a second-team AP All-American this season after leading the No. 2-seeded Buckeyes to the second round of the NCAA Women’s Tournament.

Sheldon also earned first-team All-Big Ten honors last year.

No. 9 overall pick: Guard Carla Leite

Although the Wings didn’t have a second-round draft pick, they still came away with another productive guard in the third round.

Owusu was an All-Big Ten second-team selection during the 2023-24 season, helping Penn State to a 22-13 mark. Owusu led the Nittany Lions with 17.7 points per game on 46% shooting from the field.
