Texas A&M OC Darrell Dickey relieved of duties, school announces

The Aggies moved on from Dickey after four years in College Station.

Texas A&M co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Darrell Dickey has been relieved of duties, the school announced on Monday.

Dickey was hired by head coach Jimbo Fisher at the end of the 2017 season and had been the offensive coordinator before sharing the role with wide receivers coach James Coley this season. With his release, A&M still owes Dickey his remaining base salary of $850,000 as his contract runs through the 2023 season, according to The Athletic’s Sam Khan.

Injuries to quarterbacks Haynes King and Max Johnson, wideout Ainias Smith and running back Devon Achane were just some of the obstacles faced by the offense this season.

Prior to this season, Dickey was named tight ends coach after also coaching quarterbacks during his four-year tenure. During Dickey’s time at A&M, Fisher was responsible for play-calling while he and Coley came up with game plans with input from Fisher.
