Watch: Texas Rangers drop World Series banner at Globe Life Field celebrating 2023 title

The banner, which was unveiled Thursday, measures 20 feet in height and 30 feet in width.

ARLINGTON — The 2024 season for the Texas Rangers could not begin until the most memorable season in the team’s history was officially recognized.

Ahead of Thursday night’s opener against the Chicago Cubs, the championship banner for the 2023 World Series winners was unveiled in right field at Globe Life Park. The banner measures 20 feet in height and 30 feet in width.

On the field prior to the reveal, Texas manager Bruce Bochy and relief pitcher Josh Sborz — who threw the final pitch of the series-clinching Game 5 in Arizona — presented the Commissioner’s Trophy to the sold-out crowd, placing it on a pedestal at home plate.

Bochy then took the microphone to give a brief, but grateful speech to the Rangers’ faithful.

Pregame festivities for opening day also included a ceremonial first pitch from longtime Rangers fan Michael Carter, thrown to Hall of Famer Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez, as well as a national anthem performance from Waco native Wade Bowen.

Gov. Gregg Abbott also made an appearance, presenting the baseball for the ceremonial first pitch to Carter.
