Dallas Cowboys bring veteran linebacker Damien Wilson back on one-year deal

Wilson, a fourth-round pick by the Cowboys in 2015, spent part of the 2023 season on Dallas’ practice squad.

Ezekiel Elliott isn’t the only familiar face returning to the Dallas Cowboys.

Dallas found more depth for its linebacker rotation in Damien Wilson, announcing the linebacker’s signing Monday evening. Wilson rejoins the Cowboys on a one-year deal with the veteran salary benefit structure, a person familiar with the situation told The Dallas Morning News.

Wilson was selected by the Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL draft, spending the first four seasons of his NFL career in Dallas. He spent part of the 2023 season on Dallas’ practice squad after separate stints with the Chiefs (2019-20), Jaguars (2021) and Panthers (2022).

Wilson didn’t play a game for the Cowboys last season.

The linebacker joins the club with 419 total tackles in his career, combined with nine sacks, nine pass deflections and one interception. Wilson and Eric Kendricks are two veteran additions Dallas made this offseason at the linebacker position.
