Cowboys still can’t shake illness as Trevon Diggs, Michael Gallup miss second practice

Multiple players missed last week’s game against the New York Giants with an illness.

FRISCO — For the second consecutive day, Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs and wide receiver Michael Gallup missed practice with an illness. The NFL no longer has COVID-19 protocols in place for teams so it’s up to the individual clubs to handle sickness.

In some cases, the team will tell players to stay home and maybe quarantine, which was the case with defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins last week.

Mike McCarthy wouldn’t get into whether Diggs or Gallup tested positive for the coronavirus, but whatever is sweeping through the locker room hasn’t left.

“If a guy is not feeling well, we’re not just saying come on in,” McCarthy said. “He’s got to be evaluated. Going through the pandemic obviously has been an education for all of us and I think that experience serves us well.”
