Cowboys QB Dak Prescott says he’s reached out to Odell Beckham Jr.

Prescott joins a list of Cowboys who have been trying to recruit Beckham.

FRISCO – The Cowboys will continue their recruitment of free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. once their game with the Giants is complete on Thanksgiving Day.

However, count Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott as another member of the organization that’s part of the recruiting effort. Prescott said Tuesday he’s personally communicated with Beckham about joining the Cowboys.

“I can’t say constant, but yeah, definitely I’ve sent some messages,” Prescott said. “It’s been a little back and forth. Just making sure he understands that we want to him here. As I said before, it’s a business. But right now, I guess it’s who can recruit better. Yeah, I don’t know necessarily about what he’s looking for when it comes to the numbers and long term and all that, but I know that we want him here and hoping it all works out.”

Cowboys’ players from linebacker Micah Parsons, wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup to former players such as Michael Irvin and Dez Bryant, have commented publicly in their support for adding Beckham.

The Cowboys and the Giants will apparently meet with Beckham after their Thursday afternoon game in an attempt to make a sales pitch.

Beckham is seeking a team that can make a deep playoff run, similar to the position he was in last season before signing a one-year deal with the Rams. That led to a Super Bowl title for Beckham, who incidentally was interested in re-signing but his own recovery from a torn ACL, suffered in the Super Bowl has halted any progressive talks.

Now with the Rams seemingly out of the playoff picture in the NFC, Beckham seeks a title contender which could be Dallas. But Beckham must convince any team that signs him he’s physically ready to play in a game next month and especially in the playoffs in January.

“Yeah we’re playing like that and if you’re able to add a talent like Odell that can be special,” Prescott said. “It just creates more weapons for not only me but for this offense, for the play caller and more things for the defense to worry about so yeah, we’re getting him in and hopefully everything is going great in the recruiting process.

He knows how much I want him here and a lot of these guys in this locker room, I’ve seen, have reached out on their own in different ways to making sure that he understands that this is a team that he can help. And we want him to come help.”
