The tryouts take place over two days at the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton Anatole. Women are tested on everything from freestyle dancing to routines. Dancers who make it past the finals will attend a training camp where the team roster will be announced.

Making the cut consists of more than just dancing. The dancers are also very active in the community and make numerous appearances throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

"It takes all sorts of things, to be honest with you," said Mallory Mills, director of the Dallas Mavericks dance team. "We are looking for girls that are energetic, that love to dance, have a passion for performing and [are] overall well-respected in the community and love basketball."
