Will run for food: D-FW's finest 5K runs for people who like to eat (and drink)

If the only running you do is to your car during a thunderstorm, consider taking a chance on these fun runs that greet you with everything from fair food to pizza at the finish line. Think of it as payback for all those corny dogs and fried-whatevers you'll be enjoying at the State Fair of Texas.

Spread out across the Dallas/Fort Worth area, these various runs will help you forget about the distance and focus on the mouth-watering delights that await you. Some of them even help benefit various local charities in the area, so you'll do some good while you're stuffing your face!

Rib Rub Run and Roll 5K, 10K and One-Mile Fun Run

Saturday, Oct. 3 at 8:30 a.m. at Rockwall City Hall. Save your appetite for the finger-licking barbecue at the finish line made by fellow food-lovers competing for first place in the barbecue competition. Costs $25 for the 5K, $35 for the 10K and $15 for the one-mile fun run. More info.

Everything Texas Uncorked Ranch Run & Wine Festival

Saturday, Oct. 10 at 8 a.m. at Priefert Ranch in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Costs  $25 for the 5K, $35 for the 15K and $10 for the one-mile fun run. The festival includes live music, artisanal bites and Texas wineries. More info.

Brew Mile Arlington

Saturday, Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Chug a full beer every quarter mile for a full mile run, then enjoy the all-you-can-drink beer after party! Costs $55, which includes four beers during the race, open bar after party and a finisher medal/bottle opener. More info.

Chocoholic Frolic 5K/10K

Saturday, Dec. 6 at 9 a.m. at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie. Take your sweet time and enjoy a chocolate stop during the race, then indulge in melted chocolate and fondue treats at the finish line. Costs $45 for either the 5K or 10K. More info.

Hypnotic Donut Dash 5K/One Mile Fun Run
