New lingerie shop in the Design District brings beautiful pieces to the bedroom

Zsofia's Fine Lingerie opened its doors June 15 in Dallas' Design District with a simple mission: help well-endowed women of Dallas find bras that look elegant and fit properly.

Simple as it may seem, owner Zsofia Mezey knows it is no easy task. Inside the intimate, Parisian-inspired space, Mezey has been hard at work searching for the most luxurious lingerie and sleepwear to sell at the boutique.

"I feel like femininity is a lost art," she says. She explains how the pursuit of comfort often leads women to buy "frumpy" clothing, which can discourage them from purchasing ornate garments. But Mezey believes even beautiful lingerie can be comfortable, especially when properly fitted. Mezey herself discovered she had been wearing the wrong bra size while living in Los Angeles, and describes finding her proper size as "life changing." In order to help bustier women find their perfect bra, Mezey made sure Zsofia's offers bras ranging from sizes 30C to 38G, and each client is offered a private fitting consultation.

Mezey sources her merchandise from all over the world, though much of the selection comes from Europe. A drive to Zsofia's puts women within an arm's reach of everyday-wear T-shirt bras, lace-adorned balconettes, silk teddies, unbelievably soft modal robes and nearly anything else that's beautiful enough for the bedroom. It even sells comfortable nursing bras made by a company in Paris.

The garments sell at a low to mid price point; most bras cost $100 or less; teddies and rompers are priced closer to $150.

A designer turned entrepreneur, Mezey studied fashion at the Milan campus of Istituto Marangoni, a private fashion and design school. Though she currently only sells garments created by other designers, Mezey hopes to design for her store in the future.

"I love details and intricate things and I love couture," she says. "I want to start a loungewear line inspired by old times; like something Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe would wear today." That style would fit in seamlessly at Zsofia's.

Dainty yet structured, silky yet form-fitting; Zsofia's lingerie could make any woman feel like a movie star.

Still, Mezey understands that lingerie shopping can lead to vulnerability in even the most flawless women. She hopes her clients feel confident and at ease when trying on her merchandise. The fitting rooms at Zsofia's are spacious, and each boasts a chandelier that fills the space with soft, romantic light. Three ornate hooks are secured to the left wall of each fitting room with the words "Yes," "Maybe," and "No" painted in cursive just a few inches above for simplified decision-making. Plush carpet prompt clients to explore the space barefoot. In lieu of doors, white curtains drape at the entrance of the rooms. Mezey handmade each one.

Though Zsofia's offers private parties for brides-to-be and clients who simply want to have a girls' night out, there really is no wrong way to shop the boutique. The space lends itself to a feeling of relaxation -- one so seldom associated with stripping down to your skivvies outside of home.

Whether in need of honeymoon lingerie, a perfect-fitting bra, or just some alone time in a serene, sweet-smelling space, women of all shapes and sizes might find what they're looking for at Zsofia's.
