Amazon offers 'more deals than Black Friday' for Prime Day, but most of them suck

Amazon has been trying to get people hyped up for "Prime Day" for awhile now. "More deals than Black Friday!" the company shouted. You'll save so much money that your Amazon Prime membership (which is required to get the Prime Day deals) will practically pay for itself!

"More" deals than Black Friday might, for all we know, be true. But the catch is that the deals are not on par with, much less better than, post-Thanksgiving shopping.

I mean, I guess it's OK if you want some kind of ugly dad shoes. Or a bad minigame collection for the Nintendo DS (not the newer-but-still-getting-old 3DS) that came out in 2011 (and yet can only be discounted to $10).

And it just keeps going. Deal after deal after deal, but none of them exciting.

If you looked hard and timed things right, you might stumble on a few offers that are worthwhile. Bloodborne for $29.99? That's not bad! Oh, but it's one of the few good deals going on, so they're all gone. Don't worry, Amazon's regular price for the game is apparently $39.99, so you didn't miss out on too much.

It's not just me. If you search for Amazon's own #PrimeDay hashtag on Twitter you'll mostly find disappointment.
